Floyd Marshall Jr.HostAnd you know what's interesting about the pandemic? Because that's basically how this podcast came to be.
I've been in the film industry for about 22 years, and one of the things that I was about to do before the pandemic hit, I was going to do live interviews with people in the industry, and then they shut everything down in March.
And I was sitting there saying to myself, "Okay, so now what? I have guests, but I have no venue, no nothing.
Let's go online." So can you talk a little bit about the mindset of the pivot? Because-
... certain people during that time, when the pandemic hit and things shut down, they shut down.
But you decided, "Okay, I have to do something different." What was it about your mindset that made you say, "Instead of just sitting and waiting for things to open back up, I'm going to do this and, and keep that thing moving"?
What really happened for me during the pandemic that helped me to pivot is because my world no longer became my ZIP code.
So now I have access to people that I didn't have access or didn't think about talking to before.
So it's like now I'm, I'm joining these Zooms and we're getting on all these, you know, Zoom calls and, and StreamYard.
And so it's like I began to meet people, um, through different programs and do different online, you know, classes and things like that.
That's how I met Okema, because we were in a part of the same in- a program that was, that was virtual, and we were connected that way.
So for me, that was a blessing in helping me to see that my world was no longer my ZIP code, but it was really the actual world.
