Some of the best commercial leaders in our business took anything but the straight line to get there.

They taught in classrooms, sat in boardrooms, and bet on themselves at every turn.

Our next guest started her career as a math teacher and coach in England, earned her MBA, worked her way through the NBA league office in monumental sports, rose to the principal at Boston Consulting Group, led strategic partnerships for the Washington Nationals, and today she leads a commercial business for the hottest story in all sports, the club that built the first stadium in the world purpose-built for a women's professional team i'm excited to welcome missy jenkins senior vice president of commercial for the kansas city current missy welcome to the show

Missy, just in launching, your overall career is going to be a fun conversation.

You lead the commercial business for the KC Current, a club selling out, CPKC Stadium, with a season ticket base of roughly two-thirds of the facility and thousands more on the wait list.

How would you describe what you and your team are building in Kansas City right now?

it is almost hard to put into words kind of how, how lucky I feel to be with the, with the Kansas city current and, and work for, uh, this team and this organization.

Um, It's such an exciting time for women's soccer generally and soccer as a sport with the World Cup just happening.

And so because of that, it's just unbelievable to be part of this organization.

I never expected to live in Kansas City, my dad's hometown, grew up on the East Coast, lived on the East Coast most of my life.

And I moved here really because of the vision, the investment and the organization that Chris and Angie Long, supported by Patrick and Brittany Mahomes, really are building.

You know, Kansas City, I think everyone has seen shows up for its sports teams.

We've been recognized as Time Magazine's top 100 places to visit in the world in 2024.

You know, we had Ted Lasso film in our stadium, which people will see when they watch the first episode of the new season.

It's really in my mind, sort of if you build it, they will come type of story.
