Sep 15, 2026 · 1 hr 15 min · 15 segments
How do you know if you’re succeeding as an illustrator? Jake Parker, Sam Cotterill, and Lee White discuss key performance indicators to determine if you’re growing or stagnating.
Today we're talking about illustrator KPIs, and just a little background info here.
It's Cal Newport's podcast, and what he did was, um, he, uh, he wanted to talk about, uh ...
Or he, he talked about for the episode, um, like cognitive KPIs, uh, how to measure ...
And, and just for anybody who doesn't know what KPI stands for at the, at the, at the beginning here, is a KPI is a key performance indicator.
And so what he was saying was, how about, uh, KPIs for cognition? Because a lot of what he talks about on his podcast ...
And, and honestly, if you're listening to this podcast and you don't listen to Cal Newport's podcast, at least his opening intro that he does, um, do yourself a favor and just go check out the last two or three and see if it's for you.
Um, but, but I love his stuff, and everything he does kind of applies to illustration, uh, as well 'cause, um, we are thought workers.
Um, and so a key performance indicator in fitness would be, how fast do you run the mile? Uh, how much can you bench press? How much can you squat? How many pull-ups can you do? And ideally what you do is you like, um, you time your mile at the beginning of the year.
Uh, that time is a, a performance indicator that can tell you that you're making progress.
