LⵣBNA — also known as Luna — is a DJ, producer, and singer whose sound has been shaped by techno, house, electronica and experimentation since the mid-2000s. She came of age in a culture where the dance floor felt like a space of freedom, discovery and collective experience — a place where individuality and belonging could coexist.
In this conversation, she shares the story behind her art and her life: a cancer diagnosis at 33 that led to therapeutic singing lessons, a first DJ performance played while her white blood cell count was too low for chemotherapy — and the miraculous recovery that followed.
She opens up about the voice as a vehicle for stored trauma, how certain frequencies were erased from her memory by a childhood experience, and the profound healing she found through her voice teacher Bisan. We explore her Amazigh heritage and its matrilineal roots, the story behind her debut album Life Outside the Piano, and the philosophy that drives her two NGOs: HIKAYA, bringing together people from Arabic countries to share stories and challenge stereotypes, and The GOOD DJ, harnessing the influence of DJs for social impact.
She speaks about joy and pain as inseparable, the "fabric of life" as her concept of God, and why she allows the mystery rather than searching for answers. As electronic music has grown into a global industry driven by scale and visibility, LⵣBNA asks: what happens when connection matters more than consumption, and sharing more than owning? For her, freedom means taking a stance and acting on it.Her debut vocal album Life Outside the Piano moves between trip-hop, electronica and the dancefloor, presented in live shows followed by extended DJ sets.
