I've been at this job for 23 years, and I don't think I've ever heard a more ridiculous, kooky hallucination than that.
Well, glad I could raise the bar for most fascinating interrogation.
You know, when I was a detective, I once had this case where a woman's husband turned up dead.
She said when she came home, the back door was wide open and the house was turned upside down.
When she went into the bedroom, she found her husband face down with a gunshot wound to the head.
When I questioned her, she claimed to be a medium.
She said her dead husband told her who murdered him and how.
She did this entire bit with candles, crystals, the whole nine.
Turns out-
Let me guess, it turned out she killed him.
No, she had a rock solid alibi.
The ME determined the time of death to be 48 hours before the wife called the police, and she was with her mother and sister over 80 miles away at the time.
Turns out he committed suicide, and life insurance doesn't pay out on a suicide.
So when she came home from her mother's and found the poor son of a bitch, she ditched the gun and concocted this medium story.
She said her dead husband communicated to her from the grave that some maniac snuck into the house to rob them, then murdered him because he walked in on the thief ransacking the place.
After a digital forensic analysis, we discovered the husband sent a suicide email to the wife.
She deleted it from her account and then went into his account and deleted it from there, too.
She was subsequently arrested and charged with fraud.
And what's that got to do with me?
We both know your story about being from another dimension or whatever is bullshit, and you being able to fool everyone into thinking you're Sammy Reed all the way down to the fingerprints, that tells me you're a smart man.
So you should know as well as I do that in this day and age, there's always a digital trail.
You seem like a smart man yourself, Agent McVicker, which is why you should be trying to help me.
All this shit that's happening, the earthquakes, the snow and hail, the red and purple sky, all the other strange things, it's because I shouldn't be in this universe.
You see that?
So there's a little trouble with the power grid.
