So if traditional psychology is essentially really looking at the mind and the psyche, somatic psychology includes the body.

So it says, okay, I know that there's these functions of the mind and the psyche, and also we're living in this mammalian nervous system and this animal body that has certain functions that reflexively happen in order to keep it safe.

The FON response, which is my main area of expertise, is what this series will be primarily focusing on.

Fawn is what happens when the body decides the best course of action is to go towards the threat, but to engage with it in a way that appeases it or doesn't create more activation in the threat's nervous system.

So it's really interesting because it's a social response that looks like social engagement, but it's really coming from a biochemistry of stress.

So that's what we'll be really focusing on and that's what I'm referring to when we say the font response.
