From listening to your, your guys' episodes, I can see you feel the same way.

Even though you feel a, an intense appreciation for them, you're not afraid to be critical, and that's kinda how we approach Sex and the City, um, on our podcast.

We love the show, but we recognize its flaws.

If you grew up before the streaming era, you remember the announcement that ran just before your show started.

And now, the HBO original series, Sex and the City.

As we wrote in the book, for many of us, the sound of the TV set turning on and the familiar announcer's voice calling out, and now, was like a Pavlov's bell prompting us to get out of the kitchen, grab the popcorn, and sit down for whatever your favorite show was.

The Sopranos.

Yeah.

It's like, oh, that's a Sex and the City reference.

That's fun.

Yeah, I dig it.

A slasher that people know about, at least to a tiny, tiny degree, at least in my circles.

But really, the thing that I knew about it going in was that it co-stars Kristen Davis, who would go on to play Charlotte on Sex and the City.

That, let's say, is not...

The progress of her career was not a given based on the performance we're getting

Maybe Charlotte, I don't know.

From Sex and the City?

Yeah, it feels less like a conventional pop song.

And more like three people wandered into a very expensive costume drama and decided to stay there.

But it was kind of cool.

And it was before like Sex and the City moved Samantha in there.

It's like, eh, no.

So we lived in a meat locker.

It was all

very Sex and the City, very Devil Wears Prada.

So I was literally walking down the street like this.

Everyone was going, oh my, you look so cute.

It certainly was a turning point in my feelings about living and working in the United States.

I covered the Obama campaign very closely for a newspaper called the New York Observer, which, by the by, slight tangent, the New York Observer to this day is probably best known because The newspaper column that produced Sex and the City, the actual column, was initially written in the New York Observer by Candace Bushnell.

I didn't know her, but that's still a thing that is part of the Observer's history.

Anyway, I covered the Obama campaign a lot for that newspaper.
