Spurs Set To Use 3 Guard Lineup

Our friend Danny Cannell from CBS will join us in a little bit to talk college football.

Awesome Saturday on the way in college football, but something you should be aware of last night in the NBA in the preseason, and I understand it's NBA preseason.

And it may sound weird to say that something that happened in a preseason game in the NBA could impact what happens in the playoffs, but I think it's appropriate in this spot.

So last night, the San Antonio Spurs beat the Phoenix Suns one twenty-three, one oh three.

The result is not what matters.

What matters here is that Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson...

Remember him? Remember the Knicks beat the Spurs in five? It was great to win the title, for me at least.

Mitch Johnson rolled out the three-guard lineup of De'Aaron Fox, Steph Castle, and Dylan Harper.

If you'll recall, Fox was dealing with an ankle injury in the playoffs.

It sapped him of some of his athleticism.

Maybe he makes that layup in game four if he has the athleticism.

But Harper had been coming off the bench, and in that interview with GQ which is a weird sentence to say, GQ's breaking sports news, Dylan Harper told GQ, like, "I'm not coming off the bench this year." And to be fair, he was ridiculous.

Like, he was unbelie-- He was like young Kobe, Dylan Harper coming off the bench in the postseason.

So they rolled out this three-guard lineup.

It's gonna take some time for all three to get used to each other playing in that way, right? Because, you know, Steph Castle m- like, played off-ball at UConn when they won the title, and De'Aaron Fox has played off-ball in his career.

But ideally, these are three guys that would like to have the ball in their hands, right? So it's gonna take a little bit for this to get rolling.

But when we hit playoff time, and if this three-guard lineup meshes along with Wemby, I mean, it's pretty silly, right? How good it can be.

Now, how I think this applies to the regular season, if this is gonna be something that the Spurs...

And I think they're going to, right? I think this is gonna be what they're going to do.

It's probably gonna take some time for everything to gel, and that's not an insult.

It's more just, like, statement of fact.

Meanwhile, the Thunder are gonna hit the ground running.

And by the way, Adama Ara looks awesome in the preseason, their first-round pick out of big man out of Michigan.

So what I think is likely, not definite, guys can get hurt.

Who the hell knows? My guess is is that the Thunder will have the one seed and home field in the NBA playoffs.
