And we're coordinators at Word Theatre, taking over the podcast intro duties from artistic director Cedaring Fox this week.

Our last two episodes have featured stories from our most recent event at the William Turner Gallery in Santa Monica called California Women, Golden State Writing and Performance.

It was a really lovely evening that celebrated some great local women writers.

We do a few events at the William Turner Gallery in Santa Monica each year, and it's a super intimate space for all the authors, actors, and guests to interact.

And there's always a new gorgeous art exhibit forming the backdrop for the performances.

This week, we're bringing you another story from that event, This Side and That by Toni Ann Johnson, performed by Faye Houser Price.

This isn't your typical funeral story in that it's narrated from the perspective of the person who has died.

It's about family, particularly mothers and sons, and expectations, and how we diverge from each other over our lifetimes, only to end back together when it's all over.
