In this episode of the Women Offshore Podcast, we welcome Shasta Kahoalii, Founder of Athena Talent Group. With nearly 20 years of experience in recruiting and talent acquisition leadership, Shasta…
I want to be like a candidate of yours and I want to work with you, right? Like all those things are things that we want and we want to feel supported and like valued as we look for a new job.
I don't, I mean, gosh, I have probably dozens of stories, but I think they all kind of intersect.
So what I'd say is what I love the most, and we just talked about it, about recruiting is that you can really change someone's life.
And some of the most rewarding moments in my career have been from making offer calls.
I've had to have candidates pull over on the side of the freeway because they knew the call was important and they knew it was hard to hear the tears, the deep breath of relief and the excitement when they realized that they found their next home.
In fact, I get goosebumps right now even talking about it because you realize it's so much bigger than filling the role.
I'd say one of the coolest parts about this work too for me is reconnecting with people years later and seeing how their lives and their careers have grown.
Maybe they've been promoted, they've stepped into leadership, they've relocated for the same company again, and it's changed the trajectory of their future.
I also though, as I think about it, think about the fact that when someone is considering a big career move, those conversations don't happen in isolation.
So they happen around the dinner table with a spouse, with kids, with parents, with close friends.
And knowing that I get to be a small part of that journey and a part of the conversation, it really carries a lot of weight and responsibility and excitement and is super meaningful for me.
And so as I think about like, That's where the passion comes from is knowing that I get to be part of that journey.
And so can you, is this a little bit about why you're excited about your job or what makes you wake up every morning and sit down at your desk and work? Or do you have something else that drives you?
