**Ep 177** Love Cabernet Sauvignon but want to try something different? I have six wines for you to add to your shopping list. Cabernet Sauvignon is popular for a reason. It's bold, full of dark…
Meaning if you like Cabernet Sauvignon but maybe you want to try something different, or Cabernet Sauvignon is getting pretty expensive or it's just unreliable, you have some good ones, but then you have some not so good ones.
I'm gonna recommend some of my favorite wines for Cabernet Sauvignon drinkers, and I'll tell you why I think it's a good trade-out so that you know, you know, think about what you like about Cabernet Sauvignon and see which of these alternatives would be the right fit for you.
Before we go into the swap outs for Cabernet Sauvignon, let's dive into Cabernet Sauvignon itself, right? So this grape variety, it originated in Bordeaux, France.
They weren't uber creative with the name on that one, [laughs] but we're grateful for it.
It's high concentration, and it has age worthiness, which is something that, you know, automatically makes a wine a little bit higher priced, which is a great reason to grow the grape and make the wine.
It can do well in both warm and cool climates, so it doesn't really matter what your climate's like.
In terms of tasting profile, for fruits, you typically get a lot of darker fruits.
You also get some mineral notes like, uh, I think the most popular one for Cabernet Sauvignon is graphite.
You also get some herbal notes because again, it comes from Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc.
And of course, Cabernet Sauvignon is well known for being put in oak barrels, so you're gonna get aromas like coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and cinnamon.
