Sam ParkinHostMatt Davies-AdamsHost[gentle music] Right then, Tunde Ekelt will remain Southampton manager after being given a suspended ban for his role in the Spygate scandal.
An FA independent regulatory commission doled out a six-week ban from all football for the German but suspended it until the end of next season.
Uh, the FA had pushed for a th- three-month ban, but the commission credited Ekelt for what they called genuine contrition on his part.
That's interesting, Clarky, because he must have showed it to the commission because, um, th- in his press conference I didn't see much of that from him, to be honest.
How are you, how are you feeling about this? I mean, my, my initial reaction was, well, they did get a pretty hefty punishment in being kicked out of the playoffs as a club.
I think him, him individually, it comes from the manager, doesn't it? It's, um ...
I'm sure he's not the only manager to have felt that way, that it's, it's a line that's, that you really shouldn't cross.
Um, he was lucky in the outset that, that he didn't get sacked by Southampton because he brought the club's name into disrepute.
Um, if, if he was anything other than a really good manager, he would have got sacked.
Um, and, and now, yeah, to get a suspended punishment is, is remarkable in my eyes.
But at least it allows us to sort of close that chapter and just, and just move on, which I'm not against, to be perfectly honest.
