Funding is the general allocation of money to achieve a specific, usually short-term objective.
Philanthropy is a long-term, mission-driven approach to addressing the root causes of social problems.
So what do we do as civil society activists? We look at a problem and we try to find a solution that involves grassroots.
We assume and find and confirm that people at grassroots know best, that people affected actually have a say.
Now, that is a world that we've been developing, but there's another world out there that says, control top down.
If you've managed to become very rich, it's yours and you are supposed to exercise and keep control.
