WAYLT Throwback: Songs of Reflection

My first track, like I said, I've been thinking a lot.

I don't want anybody to worry.

I think that some of these songs might come off as being sad or moody, but they really aren't.

I think that they just offer the perspective that I need in a time of reflection to really remember what's important.

And I think each one of these four tracks does such a great job at doing that.

So we're going to kick the playlist off this week with a song called Blame It on the Tetons by Modest Mouse.

Blame it on the teatomes, yeah I need a scapegoat now No my dog won't bite you, though it had the right to Yeah I wouldn't give her credit, cause she knows I wouldn't let it happen

Modest Mouse is such a great band to listen to when you need some thoughtful lyrics to get you thinking.

And this song is from their amazing 2004 album, Good News for People Who Love Bad News, which I think the album title is really, it works for this particular album.

You know, Float On was the big hit from this album that got all the airplay, but it really is worth a listen from beginning to end.

It's a no-skip album in my book.

And it is rare that I do this, but we are going to have back-to-back Modest Mouse songs on this week's playlist.

So they were on last week's playlist.

I featured a song called The Good Times Are Killing Me from Tell Me Lies.

And hearing that made me go back to this album, Good News for People Who Love Bad News.

And it reminded me of how much I love Blame It on the Tetons.

So again, the song, like all Modest Mouse songs, is so great lyrically.

There are too many amazing lines to read all of them.

So for sure, go check out the lyrics.

But this is the line that I keep going back to as I'm thinking through things, as I'm thinking through, like I said, what this next season of life is going to bring.

This one I keep hearing.

This one keeps ringing in my ears a little bit differently.

It says, language is the liquid that we're all dissolved in.

Great for solving problems after it creates a problem.

I mean, just think on that for a second while we're talking about reflection.
