This Is Getting HARDER To Ignore By The Day… | Daily Utah Mammoth News & Rumors

It's the same old, same old.

I did do my best in the last episode to free us from the Connor Halibut chat, but the deadline's tomorrow.

Deadline.

Very loose.

Quotation marks on the word deadline.

Basically what's happening, if you are uninitiated in the Connor Hellebuck sweepstakes, dramas, soap opera, whatever you want to call it, the Winnipeg Jets suspension of Connor Hellebuck ends tomorrow.

What does that mean? Not much.

It means that the Jets are going to start paying him again.

Because of the agreement between the NHL and the NHLPA, the Jets cannot suspend a player indefinitely for not reporting to camp.

So Connor Hellebuck lost out on, he basically lost out on a year's worth of salary for me every day that he's been holding out.

So now he's going to start getting paychecks again.

That's it.

That's all.

That's all it means.

So basically what people are saying, if I'm reading the room correctly, is that the Jets don't want to pay a player to not play.

And it's different from a salary buyout situation or anything like that.

So they don't want to necessarily pay Connor Hellebuck to not play.

And so there's this artificial deadline that people are making up.

Personally, it's not a deadline to me.

It's not.

And it's not like the Jets are performing poorly right now.

They're not.

At all.

You know, they're towards the top of the Central Division, right up there with Utah, Colorado, Minnesota, and Dallas.

In fact, they're ahead of Dallas.

It's the same old, same old.
