Gavin and Brian sit down with Amybeth Laroche, candidate for the 28th senate district, to get her views on what's important to Newtowners, her priorities and what she brings to the table…
All right, what do you believe is the biggest disconnect between decisions made in Hartford and the realities faced here in Newtown?
I've read a lot of these bills being put out there in Hartford and being voted on by people that are not even in the towns, that are not even talking to the voters.
In Hartford, they'll throw a bill at you at 2 AM, and you got to talk about it at 7 AM, thousands or hundreds of pages.
I don't know about you, but I don't know any business, corporation, you personally would do that, right? Would your attorney, if you're buying a house, say, here, I want you to look at this mortgage.
And so how are we having people making the best decisions under that kind of pressure? And it's a negotiation tactic so that they can throw stuff in and push stuff through.
And for me, when I become the state senator, my first goal is, hey, these things are coming down the pike.
You have to get a collective... voices involved because each one of the towns, each one of these towns that I represent is not a one size fits all.
