Q4 is here, but the freight market isn’t moving in one direction. Linehaul rates remain relatively flat while diesel prices stay volatile, spot volume rises around the end of the quarter, and capacity…
But we wanted to start with a lot of things that are happening in the trucking industry, most notably, and just FYI, right? We're starting to see some...
petitioning for the return to paper log books, which I didn't think that we would hear of, but the FMCSA did just reject that.
So this was a potential move or seeking relief from ELD requirements and reaffirming that paper log books were going to be the source of truth.
I personally don't see this happening for a while either, so I don't know if this is going to be something that flips.
But then on the compliance side, we're also seeing this big labor lawsuit that's cross border.
And so what's happening here is this is a federal suit that expanded to 45 Mexican commercial drivers targeting recruitment agency Omega Compliance Solutions and U.S. carriers.
And this particular suit claims visa fraud, forced debt, suppressed wages, confiscated documents, a huge case to keep an eye out on.
The reason why I bring this up is because it's cases like this that end up going all the way up to the Supreme Court and start to change legislation across the board.
