Nitro Rick top12s RC Canada for PT invite, Reid Alice Kollslaw discuss canopy
Uh, Alice, do you wanna give us an intro to the new cards?
Yeah, sure.
So, uh, the, the main new card is Roiling Canopy.
It is a, a rare from Reality Fracture that says if you control six or more land, uh, forests, um, then whenever a land enters, you can give a target creature that you control plus three, plus three.
Um, it's actually you must.
You, you...
It's not optional.
Um, but, uh, the, the...
It's basically just the green version of Valakut, um, in the, the cycle of the like, uh, the basic commons, like Lightning Bolt, uh, Giant Growth, Ancestral Recall.
So, uh, you know, they made that into Valakut, and now we have the green version.
Um, this is important because, uh, there's a land, a Yavimaya, Yavimaya, Cradle of Growth, which makes all of your lands forests.
So you just need Yavi, and then you need a Canopy, and if you have six lands, every time a land enters, you get, uh, plus three, plus three.
If you have two lands entering, it's plus six, plus six.
There's a very common pattern where you have four lands and, uh, one red floating in your pool.
You cast Titan, you get Hanweir Battlements, Yavimaya, you haste your Titan, and then you get two Canopies.
When both those Canopies enter, they both see each other, so you get two instances of plus six, plus six.
You're swinging for 18.
If your opponent has fetch shocks, shocked, they're dead.
Um, the [laughs] this is really good because, uh, the thing that made Amulet so powerful during the Lotus era was that, uh, you know, you would cast a Titan, you'd get two Lotus Fields, you'd make 10 billion mana, right? This is now a different way of turning single Amulet Titans into lethal.
Um, anyone else have points about that?
Um-
Card good.
Card good.
I, I, I think it's particularly important when you sort of compare it with Valakut, which some people consider it a fair comparison, some don't, but, uh, Valakut with Dryad required you to have two pieces, and one of those pieces was a creature, and one was a non-creature.
Uh, was a land, right? And so it's, it's sort of difficult to fetch those two things out of the deck.
