Aisha AmenraHost
When giftedness exceeds maturity, there is a question that every serious student of spiritual gifts eventually has to confront.

Does spiritual giftedness automatically mean spiritual maturity? The biblical answer is no.

And perhaps nowhere is that truth demonstrated more clearly than in the church at Corinth.

the gifts were operating the manifestations were present yet when paul addressed them in chapter three he said i brethren could not speak unto you as unto spiritual but as unto carnal even as unto babes in christ that should arrest our attention they were gifted but immature They had spiritual manifestations, but they still struggled with jealousy.

Chapter 14 teaches us how those gifts should operate within the gathered church.

So part two of our lesson begins where part one ultimately led us, not merely with the question, what gifts do I possess, but with the deeper question, who am I becoming while the Holy Spirit uses me? That is the question of spiritual formation.

That is the question of kingdom maturity, and that brings us directly to the fruit and the gifts.

The fruit and the gifts throughout our study, we have focused on the gifts of the Spirit recorded in 1 Corinthians 12.

Yet, we must never separate from the fruit of the Spirit recorded in Galatians 5. twenty two to twenty three but the fruit of the spirit is love joy peace long-suffering gentleness goodness faith meekness temperance the gifts reveal how the holy spirit ministers through us the fruit reveals how the holy spirit transforms within us the gifts demonstrate his power the fruit displays his character both are essential but there is an important distinction here gifts are given fruit is cultivated the holy spirit sovereignly distributes spiritual gifts according to his will But spiritual fruit becomes increasingly evident as the believer walks with God, yields to the Holy Spirit, obeys the Word, and matures in Christ.

A believer may therefore possess remarkable gifts and still need to mature in patience, gentleness, humility, faithfulness, or self-control.

They were rich in spiritual gifts, yet Paul repeatedly addressed their divisions, pride, lawsuits, immorality, selfishness, and disorder.
