What if the bitter pills life forces you to swallow could actually become the seeds of something beautiful? Returning from sabbatical, Pastor Ruben shares the stunning story of Ruth - a young woman…

So we are in a collection of talks called Pretty Ugly, and the premise is simple, is that things can happen to us, and it can cause us to still look pretty on the outside, but if we don't take care of it, it can cause us to look ugly on the inside.

And everyone should probably know that whatever is on the inside that's negative and unhealthy will eventually spill out.

And so in case you missed the series, we've been going through topics like jealousy.

We've been going through topics like unforgiveness and how do we deal with those things and what are the solutions for those.

And I really wanted to do this series because as we're navigating young adult years, we tend by default to suppress the things we deal with in front of the mirror, and as a byproduct, we make decisions off of that.

And so when we allow ourselves to be unhealthy, and we bring in people into our lives, or we allow people to date, it can cause the greatest joy or momentum moving forward, or it can cause the biggest mistakes or regrets that can cause us to feel deeply in the future.

And as I think about the project and leading you guys into the future, and as your pastor, my hope is not just to have young men and young women who are charmful just on the surface level, but as the Bible says, that charm is what? It's deceitful and beauty is fleeting, but where there is depth of character, specifically a love and a fear for God, that is praiseworthy forever, right? And so I want to chat tonight about how to remain, so to speak, pretty on the inside when life can get ugly.
