They say it takes a village—but what does that actually look like in today's world? In this episode, we're exploring what it means to build meaningful community as mothers, partners, and women living…
It's just like realizing in the beginning of motherhood, it's like, where's my village? Where's my village? And then something clicks in you.
That's like you have to be a villager to have a village and to build a village.
And so this is going to be the first episode in a series of conversations on this topic because we are very much figuring it out and are not experts on it.
But we do have our perspectives on how it's been for us and why it's important.
And yeah, just kind of share what's here for us.
Yeah, what's here for us and just like different ways of looking at it.
Because, you know, we can obviously learn and look back at where we came from as humans and how we evolved and what used to be normal and also understand that the circumstances in which we live now are very different.
And so I think where you and I sit and, you know, what we hope to bring with this conversation is just how do we integrate the two? How do we integrate modern day life and everything that that means and everything that's within that and also integrate how things used to be? Because I don't think it's it's you know it's not as easy as just copy and paste right and so that is the work that we are doing right now with ourselves is yeah figuring out how to create that what it looks like what are the different things that we can integrate into our lives um and just learning you know what makes sense developmentally after having our own kids and just being like oh Yeah, maybe we shouldn't be together all the time.
Yeah.
Maybe it does make sense for him to have a lot of other caregivers.
You know, but then there's other things to consider with that as well, too.
Like what? Values.
Yeah.
Yeah, that was...
It's always been a huge pillar for me is values.
And with this conversation, when we were preparing for this talk, I was like, okay, the only other thing I see is protecting the values of our family and my child.
Because we live in a world that is completely saturated with all kinds of different ways of thinking about the world and values and what people prioritize.
And, you know, we don't...
It's an interesting question because... people say like, you don't want to shelter your kid.
You don't want to shelter them.
You don't want to like not expose them to the, to things of the world.
And also it, I think it is important to be very intentional with who your child is around and the type of environments they're exposed to because they are sponges, sponges.
The mirror neurons are so, that's how they learn is through the mirror neurons.
So what they see, What they hear, they're just repeating it, basically.
And that's programming their subconscious, their movement patterns, just everything.
