Segment 3-State Spotlight — State Treasurer Robert Sprague

You know, I wanna pause there for a moment.

I was gonna ask you about the pulse around Ohio, because I know you're out there a lot at fairs, Lincoln Day dinners.

But before we get to that, let's talk about Issue 3.

Not many people are talking about it.

We are 19 days away.

This is a pretty important issue.

Tell us what it is and tell us why we need to support it.

Well, to start out with, you can't have secure elections unless you have photo ID.

And right now in the state of Ohio, we do have photo ID when you show up in person to vote.

So Issue 3 is about taking that existing Ohio law, the way that we vote right now, and adding that to the Ohio Constitution.

So I support Issue 3.

I encourage a yes vote.

And why do you wanna do that? Well, not because it changes policy.

It's the way that we vote in person right now.

But, but, but because it creates permanence, and that way, if, uh, Allison Russo or other people get into elected office who wanna gut photo ID, it can't be taken away from our election system, and it can't be taken away from the people of the great state of Ohio.

You know, you put the most important things in the Constitution, and nothing could be more important than the security and the fairness of our elections in Ohio.
