Sep 30, 2026 · 52 min · 11 segments
Tom and Ross discuss the most important news in sim racing and video games over the past seven days, which this time includes significant Assetto Corsa EVO and F1 Sim Racing topics. For the former…
Ross McGregorPanelistAgain, a regular topic on this podcast, but hey, it is an Assetto Corsa sequel that's in early access and has gone through some controversial times.
The first part, very key element there, of the early access version of Freeroam, which is a much-vaunted feature that was in all the initial release trailers where you drive around the Eifel region of Germany around the Nürburgring, and also I think you'd be able to drive onto the Nürburgring in that mode, is out.
But judging by recent release update cadences, within the next month, we suspect.
And the Traction.gg website is updated every single day with the latest news.
But Ross, hot take on finally being able to, hopefully soon, maybe possibly, drive free roam in a set of cars at Evo.

Well, I just wonder, is it two years since Free Rome and ECF was announced? Just about?

So yeah, it feels like the initial hype has definitely died down for me anyway.

We know it's going to have AI traffic, which is great, but... you know, with the sort of switching career modes away from, you know, your kind of go to different businesses and earn money and spend it and stuff like that, what's it actually going to look like? Is it just going to be sort of driving about this Eiffel region and then there's not really going to be an aim? So, yeah, that's kind of like my main concern.
Yeah, we know that, I mean, it was 10th of December 2024, or it was December 2024, so coming up on two years.
When the first sort of open world trailer-y, definitely confirmed thing.
I mean, there was trailers before then where we speculated it could be that.
And then there was a Misha Sheridan video on Veil, wasn't there? So we know that when it's complete it'll be 1600 kilometers square.
