The Training For Mountaineering Podcast
Oct 1, 2026 · 31 min · 11 segments
In this episode, I interview Summit Strength client Luther about his training journey (so far) leading up to Aconcagua. Inside, he shares insights into his training, the challenges he's faced, and…
Then before we started working together, what was your typical approach to training when it came to these adventures?
Yeah, I think with what I've learned since we've been together, we'd call it a shotgun approach.
And so when we get to what we talk about where I'm at now, I just realized when we got together last August that I needed someone to help me organize and give me a plan to follow because I'm really good at that.
So, yeah, unorganized and shotgun would be the best way to describe my previous training.
I can't help that.
And then when, before, I guess, when we first started chatting or before we started chatting, what was, what was the big goal that, or big goals that you've set yourself for yourself with this mountaineering? And what was the instigator of these particular goals?
I, when I did Kilimanjaro the first time, um, I was adventuring in Africa before I went there and, um, was with a guy and he's like, hey, my mom is training to climb Kilimanjaro.
Coming down, you know, that's a long trek down through that screen all the way down.
And I think before we got to the trailhead, I just knew I was going to Argentina someday.
