Destined to Remember: So… Who’s Pearl Jam’s Drummer?

You know, I think when we think back to what this weekend was supposed to be, and this is how I'm going to start, I'm going to go right into Ohana and just the lead up to it, because we've all been talking about it for months, right? What is Ohana? What is this thing since Matt Cameron left? When Matt Cameron left, it came out of left field.

We weren't sure about it.

There was rumblings about Matt wanting to tour less and do more in his personal life and do some other things that touring might have been a little bit harder on his body that he just wanted to kind of do his next stage in life.

Which I understand, and he has every reason, and I respect him for doing that.

But then that left the big question mark.

Funny question mark.

But it left the big question mark.

Who's Pearl Jam's drummer? And there's been guesses of everybody under God's green earth about this, about who it's going to be.

And, you know...

There was a lot of speculation, a lot of hypotheses, a lot of suggestions, a lot of rumors, a lot of pictures, a lot of videos, all these things.

I would say that I think that I was pretty 100% certain who it was when things started leading up, rumors started coming out, things started peaking in Seattle, and then we started seeing some stuff happen on SNL, some other rumblings and rumors coming around, photos in Hawaii, all these different things.

But the 10th edition of Ohana comes up and when it comes out, it's announced Pearl Jam's coming.

Who the fuck's the drummer? That's, I think, what everyone wanted to know.

And there was the lead up of the surprise of the Pearl Jam drummer.

And I think, in my opinion, and this is going to be the first question I ask of you gentlemen, is the way that it was kind of secretive with some of the interviews with Stone and Jeff and Eddie, and the way that it was going to be, it's going to come out on Sunday, which is also another funny thing.

It's going to come out that Sunday in Ohana.

And all these things started peaking, right? All these questions would be answered.

Everything would come out, and it would be the new era of Pearl Jam.

News articles everywhere were pushing the new era of Pearl Jam.

What is it going to sound like? What is it going to be? And I, in my opinion, thought that this was going to be a huge step into a new era of Pearl Jam.

You know, just something, a new drummer.

What is it going to be? Is it going to rejuvenate the band? Are we going to see a new way of how they're going to do things? So much was going to come out of it.

And so I hyped it.

I thought the way it was coming out, it was hyped.

This was going to be a big, huge deal, the new era of Pearl Jam.
