Last week on the podcast, I discussed how I had a bit of a hip issue and my SI joint was hurting.
And let me tell you, I don't know if I said this last week on the podcast, but chiropractors are the best thing in the world.
I mean, I'm going to just shift gears to go full SI joint here, but my dad has a... chiropractor.
His name's Dr. Baker.
And he lives out in, I'm not sure where he lives exactly, but his office was up in Factoria.
And so my dad has known Dr. Baker for years.
He's used him because when my dad was, I think it was about a decade ago, he fell down a slide and doing an emergency exit from an airplane because he's a pilot, and he kinked up his back super bad, and he had to deal with a lot of problems for many years.
In fact, there was one year not too long ago, I remember, where his back got so tight that he couldn't even walk.
He had to get steroid shots.
I'm not sure if he had a steroid shot, but he got steroids to reduce the pain inflammation rate, from the pharmacy, and it was this whole thing, so he went to a chiropractor, and the chiropractor significantly reduces pain, and I know a lot of people online say that it's a fake science, but I don't think so, because I went there on Monday, I got hooked up with Dr. Baker, I left school at 1 p.m., and I was in my theology class, I just left school, my parents signed me out, and I drove up, or I drove down to Factoria, and it was only about maybe 10 to 15 minutes of the appointment itself.
He put me on my side, he put my legs in this disjointed position, and he did this weird push and shove.
And there was the biggest, most I don't even know how to describe it.
Like it shook me to my core, this crack in my lower back slash SI joint area and no pain, like no pain.
After I got up, I started running around the parking lot and I was just astonished.
He told me that I had tight hamstrings, which was a super big component as to potentially why my SI joint tightened up.
is because if you have a lot of weakness and tightness in different muscles in the posterior chain, then that can affect other areas as well.
So he said that I had some tightness in my hamstrings, but he said that the point of chiropractic is for someone to be able to manually realign, slash, let your joints or enable your joints to glide properly again.
So I guess it worked.
I'm not really sure the exact science of why your joints would need to be realigned with their proper gliding path in the first place, but it worked.
And I've had slight tightness.
I don't think that the chiropractor fully solved the problem.
I definitely think that I've had to still work on my hip I've had to work on my hamstrings and all that.
But I definitely think that it got me about 85% of the way there.
And I was not needing to stop or change my training plan for the rest of the week because of my side joint.
