Sunday Chronicle Episode 123 - Candice Mushatt and Joel Arnold

And this would normally be the segment where I thank my co-host for being here.

He is not here.

Spann will be here on the next episode, but we miss him and we hope to have him back soon.

With that, we're going to turn our attention to our next guest, our special guest.

We've been having a series of candidate conversations.

And to add to that list, we have Ms. Candace Machotte.

And correct me if I'm saying that incorrectly, but she is running for re-election for Flint City Council Ward 7.

Thank you, Candace, for being here today.

Thank you for having me.

I appreciate it.

I'm excited to be here.

Very good.

So, Candace, tell me a little bit about you.

We'd love to know you as a person, right? Because I know being in politics and going to different forums and things, I mean, you have to be on, right? And you're rattling off, you're...

platform and those types of things but I like to know the person behind all of that to give us a better idea of maybe the

types of decisions they'll make in office okay

all right so take it away tell me a little bit about your background and you know uh you know your upbringing that sort of thing and why you got into politics

Absolutely.

So I was born and raised in the city of Flint.

I've lived here my entire life.

I absolutely love living in the city of Flint.

I love my city.

Part of me feels like maybe I was always going to end up in politics, and then the other part of me just feels like city council wasn't necessarily a part of my plan.

But now that I'm on city council, I absolutely love being on city council and what it means for my community and the things that I can do for my community.

At a young age, I was always taught to be civic-minded, civically engaged, and so I just kind of took that with me throughout my life.
