HR 1: Mike McCarthy Presser, Steelers Coordinators Speak

And we've gotten literal pains in that-

... because Mike McCarthy confirmed yesterday that Derek Harmon, uh, is gonna be out.

Well, putting him on IR, which the team did Monday, means you have to miss at least four weeks, but McCarthy had confirmed prior to that, I think, that, yeah, he's gonna miss several weeks.

Hopefully, it's only four, knock on wood, with that foot injury for Harmon, at which point they could get him back after the bye, I believe, when you face Cincy.

Uh, again, coming out of that in Cincy.

And Jamel Dean, it, it doesn't sound like he's gonna be able to go Sunday.

Seems like he's more week to week than day to day, based on McCarthy's answer on the Steelers', uh, basically their number one corner at this point.

Um, so I mean, we'll see if, uh, if they can get him, get him back sooner than later and, you know, they'll evaluate, uh, Wednesday before practice.

But it, you know, making progress didn't really sound too, too encouraging, and I think there's been some other reporting to the effect that Dean is, uh, likely gonna miss at least one game.

Hopefully, for his sake, he can go back and play in Tampa Bay, um, for his little, his little revenge game in a couple weeks.

And then they signed Sean Murphy-Bunting, veteran free agent corner who missed all of last season with an injury but has played a lot of games.

He's 29 years old.

Y- you won't be, you won't be dealing with a young player, uh, from that standpoint.

He's new to this program and system, but he's been around the block to say the least.

Uh, and I think that...

Oh, and a new practice squad linebacker, right? Marte Mapu, if I'm saying that correctly.

Yeah, yeah, he has.

He's played NFL football, and he was a, uh, I think he was a, a fairly decent prospect coming out of...

It's a small school, Sacramento State, but yeah, he was a third rounder in 2023 of the Patriots and, you know, was, was with the Texans practice squad earlier this year.

And hey, I, I think based on what we saw the other night, I do not hate the idea of let's get another linebacker in here and at least give somebody a look.

I'm not saying you gotta toss everybody out to the curb after one rough outing, but doesn't help to, or it doesn't hurt to have a little bit more depth there.

And Mapu, he's only, uh, he's only 26, so still a, uh, a relatively young player in the league.
