What exactly is a donor-advised fund, and why are more Christians using one as part of their stewardship journey? In this episode of the Smarter Generosity podcast, Eric Fleshood and Katie Brubaker…
So when most people are thinking, okay, this might be something that I'm interested in, it's a, a charitable giving account, sounds good, what would you say is the gap that most donors are trying to close when they're looking at a tool like this?
Uh, uh, you know, a reas- one reason people haven't heard of donor advised funds is because it used to be something that was just for the wealthy, and that has changed so much, and now it's really for, um, almost any c- any, uh, steward out there who has even $1 of God's resources to figure out, you know, how to, how to manage well.
But, uh, you know, Katie, modern life, I don't know about you, but the modern life can throw so many curve balls at you.
Um, I don't know how many budgeting systems my wife and I have moved through over the years trying to find the one that works for both of us, that we can get on the same page.
And, a- and, and once you get that down, well, then, gosh, you gotta think about, oh, what about savings goals? There's kids on the way.
Is it pre-tax, post-tax? Um, and as you move through life, there's just layer upon layer of, of, of things that, that, uh, hit you, and, and you just...
Like, why am I doing this? What is this all for? Um, and as Christians who are, uh, desirous of being close in our walk with God, experiencing His heart, and th- thinking about giving, you know, that's a lot of clutter to deal with in our lives, and the donor advised fund is a tool that can really help with some of that.
