The Untold Story of Tabraiz Shamsi: CSA, West Indies and the 2027 World Cup

Yeah, it's an incredible journey because I think there's a lot of young cricketers that maybe don't realize how tough it can be.

And then when they get to that crossroads where they're questioning their careers, they need to take a leaf out of your book.

So I suppose what is your advice to them? Is it just follow the passion, keep doing it, stay committed? Because these days it is still very tough to make it into a South African team.

Yeah, look, I think the first thing I would say is just be realistic.

Like you can't lie to yourself.

People can lie to each other, but you cannot lie to yourself.

You know whatever walk of life, whatever line of work you're in.

So I can only relate to sport.

You know where you stand in a cricket team.

You know if your performances have been there or not.

You know what other options there are in the squad.

So my motto is always...

Don't be, I don't know if I can say the word.

Go

for it.

Don't be a shitty guy.

Yeah.

Just do your work.

Like be better.

Yeah.

You know, you don't need to drag the next guy down or have animosity between him and you because you guys have the same position in the squad or whatever.

You do the same role.

Just be better.

Just work hard and just be better.

Put in your performance, but be realistic with yourself.
