India doesn't invite Pakistan over for a summer tour and vice versa.

The only time they play each other is when they are forced to during mandated international tournaments run by the ICC, the International Cricket Council.

Which fundamentally changes the nature of the event.

It turns every single encounter into an event of massive artificial scarcity.

When there was talk of cancellation during the crisis, broadcasters like Geo Star were sweating because they were looking at a twenty-two to twenty-five million dollar hit in advertising revenue alone.

But the macro picture is even more stark.

The ICC operates on a three billion dollar global broadcast cycle.

Okay.

And for me it is Ollie Robinson who came in, uh, to the team for that first test at Lords and immediately took wickets and won the Man of the Match, uh, at Lords.

And over the summer he's taken 28 wickets at 9.32, and gone up to fifth in the ICC bowling rankings for test cricket as well.

Uh, so he's had a, an absolutely stellar time, 21 wickets in that last Pakistan series, an average of 8.76.

So a, a remarkable, uh, uh, performance.

You are the fourth richest board in the world.

You get the most funding from the ICC.

So you don't even have that money problem.

Earlier the money problem was that you were dependent on ICC funds.

Now you are getting so much money from PSL.

Franchise standalone is giving you 30 million US dollars.

Which was only giving you 17 million US dollars last year.

35 million you get from ICC, 30 million you get from PSL franchises, 5% you get from broadcast.

But, uh, when it comes to male to female, I think there are proper guidelines that should be made.

I think the ICC dropped the ball a couple of years ago, uh, with the Canadian player who I've done a podcast, uh, with.

Um, because you're talking about a player who wasn't showing, like in the da- I can look at the data and be like, "Well, this is not a player who's muscling the ball away." Um, she was quite short as well.

Height is a really interesting one, I think, on male to female transitioning just because, like if you are six foot seven, um, there are-- It's very hard to find.

Most of the people who will, uh, who'd be upset by this literally only think there's two genders when there is clearly more than two genders, right? So they instantly don't understand.

They, they, they can't have a nuanced conversation.

The ICC is not grown up enough or professional enough to have a good conversation about, um, things like this.

But yeah, as the political nonsense goes away, I mean, trans people are the punching bags of idiots at the moment.

... want that, don't they? But I think, um, ICC would be very reluctant to do that, wouldn't they? I mean, uh, whether you could make, possibly make a case that New Zealand should have had four tests and New Zealand two in hindsight.
