A Sacramento County jury has convicted a mother of second-degree murder in the death of her eight-month-old daughter.
Christina Heumann Sedlecky was convicted October 1st in the death of baby Jana.
Prosecutors say Jana suffered severe burns over more than 30% of her body after Sedlecky's husband placed her in dangerously hot water.
When Lucky returned home, prosecutors say she saw the baby's skin turn red, peel, and blister, but neither parent sought medical treatment in the days that followed.
Investigators later found internet searches on Lucky's phone showing that she understood the danger of leaving the burns untreated, but feared seeking help because she thought she may be arrested.
On the morning that Jana died, prosecutors say the baby became limp and unresponsive.
Instead of immediately calling 911, Siglecki went on social media while her husband contacted a friend for help nearly 45 minutes later.
Jana ultimately died from complications related to the burns.
Her father was also charged in the case, but has since died.
Siglecki now faces 15 years to life in prison.
Sentencing is scheduled for October 23rd.
