Okay, my first question for you is can you talk to us a little bit about the backstory behind how you came up with this concept and why you actually decided to make it into a whole podcast?
I must say I had a steady diet of Dean Koontz and Stephen King, the masters of horror back in the '80s.
And Dean in particular had a story that was about a guy who was hunting these creatures who only he could see, and they were hiding beneath human skin, so similar in concept to the Shadows.
In Dean's story, the guy was a hunter from the start, so it was all about him hunting them, and I always liked the idea of approaching it from the perspective of someone who was being hunted by the creatures instead, and being persecuted, you know, chased around, and never being able to settle, and how they would actually survive, almost like a survivalist sort of story rather than a hunter sort of story.
We know that, spoiler alert, going to the end of the season, Daniel eventually learns to overcome this and does become the hunter, but I really liked the idea of exploring this concept of the hero being hunted.
So yeah, it was something that I did toss around in various incarnations for many, many years, and I eventually got around to write out.
I used to write the short treatments for my music project, and it was a very, you know, minimalistic sort of overview of this first season, and then I later went and expanded on it and made it into this 10-episode season.
So yeah, it was something that I'd wanted to do for a long, long time, and it was great fun to finally get around to doing it.
