So two people can have the same chronological age but have very different risks of disease, very different recovery capacity, very different trajectories of aging itself.
Can we actually measure how old we are biologically? And perhaps more importantly, can we change it? Because if biological age is something that can be quantified, then it becomes something we can begin to understand.
And if it's something we can understand, then maybe it's something we can modify.
And that's where things really start to get interesting because emerging data suggests that biological age is not fixed.
It can respond to environment, to lifestyle, to intervention, and in some cases even to something as dramatic as transplantation where cells, and perhaps even biological age itself, are placed into an entirely new environment.
So what does that all mean? Is aging something that is programmed? Is it something that is accumulated? Or is it something that, at least in part, is dynamic? Today we're going to explore all of these questions and more.
