The Renegade Writer's Mouthy Musings

*Man, I cannot believe I’ve recorded a daily podcast for 730 days in a row.* I’ve never missed a day. Not when I had COVID, when we’ve been on vacation, or even on the sad day we had to put my father…
I cannot believe when I get even...
Even any kind of paid subscription.
I mean, I can believe it, but I can't in a way because I'm like, this is kind of like dream job for me.
Being able to be creative, being able to record podcast episodes every day for two years straight like today.
Two articles every single day I publish.
I try to make it a bargain.
And only 2% of my followers are paid subscribers.
That means 98% are just showing up and enjoying this stuff for free.
And I'm good with that.
I made peace with that a long time ago.
I never said and wanted to be the person that charged people to read my writing, even if I did paywall, like let's say half my articles or most of them.
At this point with a decent following, I could probably make more money.
I don't want to do that.
I don't want to exclude anybody.
I grew up a poor kid.
We didn't have money for shit like this.
There's no way my parents would have ever let me support anybody.
Even if I had my own money, they'd say no, I guarantee it.
I remember my dad not letting me buy certain things with my own birthday money because he was a hard ass and he thought they were stupid.
And never mind that it was my money and I should have been able to spend it how I wanted.
I specifically remember a transformer figure I really wanted.
And he was like, nope, not going to do it.
So, yeah, I get it.
You have a lot of choices with what to do with two bucks a month or five bucks a month, whatever.
You want to do a lot of writers on here, a lot of talented people.
