Road to Ironman Western Australia, Episode 2: Big Training Weeks, Sweat, and Smash-or-Pass

So, um, well, Lisa, where

were you during the race? Like specifically throughout the day?

Um, at the swim start, I was at the swim start.

So I watched, you know, the gun goes, go off and watched all everyone in both races just creep forward like crazy, which is insane.

Still insane that like the women were way worse than the men too.

They were all like 50 meters in front of those Roka start buoys.

Um, well, didn't they

have like this, the cycling of the paddlers though?

Yeah, but they didn't do anything.

They just kept getting more in front of them, like out of the way.

They're like, oh, you're here.

I guess I'll just paddle more in front.

Look, I think our sport just needs to accept that there's a creep, and there's nothing we can do about it, and it's between zero and 50 meters of creep, and then that's just what we get.

That's no problem.

It would be really

easy to fix if they just threw a drone up there, put our numbers on the back part of our cap, And then one race, they're like, before the race, they're like, we're putting the drone up.

We're going to review it as soon as the swim start happens.

We're going to have a team review it.

Every single person who starts early or creeps ahead of the line will get a penalty and it'll be X, whatever it is.

Then they'll be like, oh yeah, whatever.

And then they actually do it and they give people like a two minute penalty or something.

Then it will never, ever happen again.

We'll

talk about Race Ranger too.

but it'd be so easy to put a, like a, a string behind everyone.
