On Monday, Democratic candidate for governor Amy Acton called for a gas tax holiday.

And then a few hours later, Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy sent out a notice that he, along with his running mate, Senate President Rob McCauley and Republican House Speaker Matt Huffman, they had a plan to bring the legislature back from early recess to pass a bill that would provide a gas tax holiday.

First of all, let's talk about this bill that Ramaswamy and the legislative Republicans are backing.

And the questions, of course, are about where does the money come from? Because I asked Speaker Matt Huffman in the press conference how much this was going to cost in terms of lost revenue.

Ramaswami's had kind of different answers in terms of where the money would come from.

And also he said it could come from Medicaid fraud dollars that are returned to Ohio in this deal he's talked about where he says he's going to get the federal government to return 65 cents on every dollar of Medicaid fraud found as opposed to 35 cents on every dollar of Medicaid fraud found, which is what we are now.

That, of course, is a reflection of how much the federal government pays for Medicaid versus how much Ohio pays.
