Hulu brings back this 2008 sequel with a Chris Carter director's cut where Mulder and Scully are called back to duty by the FBI when a former priest claims to be receiving psychic visions pertaining to a kidnapped agent in X-Files I Want to Believe, Rock Frankenstein.
It's here! Here!
Cheryl Cunningham, 34.
Never made it to work last night.
Scully? Mulder? Someone's come forward with some promising evidence.
A psychic.
I see a face.
I see eyes staring out.
Do you think God hears your prayers?
Why would he send these visions?
Maybe it's not God doing the sending.
So far we've pulled 11 discrete human limbs from the ice.
We're not
even finished yet.
Hello?
Another woman, taken from a car.
Help.
This is God's work.
It's not from God.

Now, at first glance, a director's cut that makes the movie shorter made me kind of skeptical, but then having the rating go from PG-13 to R... gave me a little bit of hope.

And we can definitely, by the end of the movie, feel two things, better pacing and a darker tone, where we lean heavily into the Barack Frankenstein piece of the title, which in Russian translates to Dr. Frankenstein, in which we can look at the title in a couple ways, whether our writer-director Chris Carter wanted to lean into the villain and conflicts to justify the title, Or it's more symbolic for Carter instead of calling it a director's cut to symbolize him as Frankenstein to his movie.
