Meet the Candidates for Montclair’s Board of Ed

A couple of things.

The biggest reason I'm running, frankly, is that I think I can help.

I've been paying attention to Board of Ed meetings.

I've been attending Board of Ed meetings for over 15 years.

I've been watching questions n- not be asked.

I've been watching some questions asked and not answered.

I think I can help ask the right questions.

I want to introduce process that will allow us to ensure that questions that do get asked actually do receive answers.

Process is something with which I'm very comfortable.

Education is something that's very important.

My kids were very successful from the Montclair School system, and it's something that I want to ensure happens for all of our students.

Thank you.

I'm allowed to go short, right?

You are.

[laughs]

No penalties for that.

Thank you.

Next up, Ayelet.

Hi, good evening.

Um, thank you for Anush, Mike, and the MPAC team for this opportunity.

When I first got interested in possibly running for the Board of Ed, it was really motivated by the fact that I th- felt like I wasn't being fully represented by the board.

I'm a parent of young children, and I felt that often the issues of young children were not really highlighted or fully regarded in discussions regarding policy, regarding calendar, and regarding the budget.

Additionally, I'm really passionate about addressing our achievement gap, a very persistent achievement gap in the district that I know is receiving additional focus, but we have, really have to bring home more data-driven solutions and to pr- the problem solve this persistent issue.

And finally, as a working parent who's also first on the call sheet, I think it's really important that we bring the full view of Montclair parents and all sorts of families into the picture, and I'm excited to represent my community.

Thank you, Ayelet.
