I’ve been training for over 20 years now... And when it comes to nutrition, I’ve tried a lot of different things Different diets Different approaches Different supplements I’ve also worked with…
So assuming that is the case, the number one thing is remove what isn't serving you.
So there's a lot of people that believe, "Right, I can reduce how much junk food I'm eating.
I can reduce how much alcohol I'm doing." And I would say for about 30% of the population, that tactic can work.
People can have a balanced approach and get good results.
But I would probably say for 70%, you need to go all in, especially to begin with.
Not forever, but especially to begin with.
This is why, generally speaking, the guys that I work with, the first three months, we've got to lock in.
We've got to get rid of anything that's serv- not serving you.
Because let's say, for example, alcohol.
I spoke about this on, on my last podcast episode.
If you're in the habit of drinking two beers per night, all of a sudden, you know, just trying to keep that in whilst trying to do a fat loss plan, yes, logically, it might be possible as long as you're starting to pull back your calories from other foods.
But that alcohol is still gonna affect your testosterone levels.
It's still gonna affect the quality of your sleep, which is therefore gonna have an impact on your appetite.
So I'm a big believer.
I've tried the balanced approach.
Trust me.
I've been that coach that said, "Right, tell me all your favorite foods, and we'll make sure that we feature them in your diet plan." So that's like the chocolate bar, boom.
That's the alcohol.
And then all of a sudden, you're barely left with any calories to play with, and you realize that even though you're creating a calorie deficit, these are the type of foods that most people can't stop on.
So just having one beer then leads to two beers, then leads to three beers, then leads to you ordering a takeout, and then all of a sudden you've blown your calories.
So I generally don't believe that probably at least 70% of the population it's gonna work.
You can't have one foot in your old life and then one foot in your new life.
It just doesn't work for most people.
So what I would say is, pick your top three things that aren't serving you, whether that's alcohol, whether that's sweet treats.
Like, for me, it's sweets, cakes, biscuits, chocolate.
