Alison Gorrell: The Mindset Behind Elite Performance

In this engaging conversation, Dawn Grant sits down with former professional basketball player and mental performance coach Alison Gorrell to explore what separates good athletes from great ones. Drawing from eight years of professional basketball across Europe and Australia, Alison shares how trusting herself, embracing change, and developing mental resilience shaped both her athletic career and her coaching philosophy.  Together, they discuss the importance of intrinsic motivation, adapting to adversity, building confidence through action, and why fear often keeps athletes from performing at their best. The conversation dives into flow state, instinctive performance, sports psychology, and practical strategies for helping athletes trust their training instead of overthinking in competition. Whether you're an athlete, coach, parent, or simply striving to perform at your highest level, this episode offers valuable insights into developing the mindset needed for lasting success.
