Let's get started talking a little bit about kind of recapping where we've been in this conversation.

One of the things we talked about, just to remember, some of the kind of pressing concern around this movement is, And this is, remember we talked about last time, the NAR movement exists in sort of several different movements coming together.

In a 2019 Barna study, it was revealed that pastors have become deeply troubled by the growing influence of the Prosperity Gospel Movement.

And it's very interesting because I think it's only the other major concerns were things like this, watered down gospel teachings, shift to a secular age.

And so let's just recap then for our listeners and for Kip and for Bob and myself, the five doctrines we talked about that sort of set up the core distinctives of the NAR movement.

The first was that God always wants to give his people miraculous healing and material blessings.

The second was that prayer is treated not a petition asking God and seeking God's will, But a declaration of authority, and that is related to the first doctrine, because if it's always God's will to give us the blessing and to give us the materials that we're looking for, then we don't need to pray and ask that will be done.

And revival environments of exuberant worship and praise, then, are believed to increase the effectiveness of one's declaration to receive these things.

And last is a way of recapping our five aspects of the body of doctrine of the NAR movement.

Wealth, influence, and success are markers and evidence of prophetic authority and power.

And so that's the system we're looking at, and we're going to talk about the Lutheran response to some of these doctrines.
