Peter Obi, Nigerian presidential candidate: The last election was rigged

[gentle music] Welcome to The Interview from the BBC World Service with Peter Obi.

Let's talk about the 2023 elections.

You said that you won that election, and you also claimed that it was rigged, despite the courts, um, disputing that, uh, claim.

Well, quite frankly, I don't like going back to the past.

I still saying it, we are what I said.

Do you have evidences to prove that?

Well, there's no evidence.

Is everything is not based on evidence.

We know that Abiola won the election that was canceled.

So you're saying you don't have evidence to prove that you won-

No, no

...

the 2023 elections?

I said, when elec- Abiola was asked that, it was the same thing.

So let's just leave the past.

Those who think about yesterday and today will miss tomorrow.

Let's talk about the future of hundred, over four hundred, 140 million Nigerians-

Mr. Peter-

... that-

... we, we cannot talk about the future without looking at the past.

A lot of Nigerians-

I won the election, and that's where we end.

But you don't have any evidence to provide.

Well, I won the election.
