A former New Zealand SAS soldier is dead, and UFC veteran and Green Beret Tim Kennedy was reportedly wounded beside him in a 17 September ambush in Congo. Nobody official will confirm it. So what were…
The former UFC fighter Tim Kennedy was reportedly wounded in an ambush in the Democratic Republic of the Congo last month alongside the former New Zealand Special Operations soldier who was killed.
The September 17 attack has not been officially confirmed by any party, including the New Zealand government.
Kennedy, who was 47 at the time, was also competed professionally in the UFC and Strikeforce.
He was not responding to emails that any media organization was requesting.
So it's pretty unclear what happened in the ambush, but it seems like they came under significant contact and were overrun by a militia of some form.
And Kennedy took a round in the leg, around the femur, I believe.
It was reported that he then put a tourniquet on his leg and was medevaced out, eventually being medevaced back to the United States to undergo medical treatment that would save his life.
Unfortunately for the New Zealand SAS soldier, Justin, he was reportedly killed almost instantly by a bullet.
It is unclear where he was shot and if he's being repatriated back to New Zealand at this stage.
It was reported that he was, well, that group of them, there was also a third individual, sorry, that we should cover.
No one really knows who he is and if he sustained any injuries.
As of now, it is reported that he was fine in the ambush.
