Resident Evil (2026) Review

What were your thoughts on the original adaptations that we got before this? Nick, did you like any of the Mila Jovovich ones or even Operation Raccoon City or the Netflix show I guess they did?

But I got a hot take on this.

And

I'll start with saying, I should have said this in the first question, but I'll start with saying, I've played pretty much, not even pretty much, every main Resident Evil title there is.

One through nine.

I've played Zero.

I've played Code Veronica.

I've played some of the spinoffs.

You know what I mean? And I remember when the Mila Jovovich movie dropped.

And I think I remember seeing the trailer in a movie theater and I don't remember what movie it was but I remember seeing it and being like oh fuck somebody's doing it you know what I'm saying and got around to watching it and I believe I remember having kind of mixed feelings like this is cool they're I don't know who this chick is like she's a babe and all but like I have no clue she is like maybe maybe they're gonna like drop some big knowledge at the end of that she's you know what I mean and But there were a lot of cool creatures and stuff in the movie.

You had the Dobermans, the Cerberus, and of course the zombies and everything.

It was fun.

However, it left me feeling like that's not the Resident Evil I know.

And I guess I'll close in saying I am the type of person that... wants to see the lore played out on screen.

I've said forever that like, I wish HBO or somebody would pick up the franchise and like start from where like, you know, like Marcus and mother Miranda and Spencer or whoever find the stairway to heaven flower in Africa, in Africa, like way back in the day, all the way to where we are now.

I want to, I would love to see that happen.

Probably never going to happen.

That'd be super expensive and they would have to make super a lot of money off of it to make go that long.

But that's where I stand.

I want to see that.

And so I was a little bummed when I didn't get that, um, which you can probably see where I'm going with that now.

But, uh, honestly and people shit all over welcome to raccoon city but in my opinion welcome to raccoon city is all those like the casting was dog shit and it was kind of goofy and they tried to cram one and two into the same movie which i hated but like in terms of it being like accurate to what happens in the games it's probably the most game accurate movie that i can think of

yeah that uh raccoon city is still my favorite uh i mean we have a group chat me ren and you know a couple other guys that uh for our monthly roundtable and often i you know bring up that film i know ren that uh you you said you enjoyed it but you're just not like that high on it but if i'm not mistaken or like it's like it was fun but it wasn't like your your stick if

i'm not

mistaken
