Why do 47% of corporate leaders experience chronic burnout—even while hitting their biggest targets? In this episode of The Guiding Voice (#TGV712), host Naveen Samala sits down with Hanna…
Hanna BauerGuestNaveen SamalaHost[clears throat] And Hannah, you have coached executives from not-for-profits to Fortune 500.
So what is one principle from your heart leadership code that if every leader implemented it tomorrow, would actually reduce burnout by 30%? And, uh, be brutally honest, like how many leaders actually follow that or do it? [laughs]

Well, I think first of all, the leaders that I have seen to be, um, you know, that are not just like what we, we even call in the, in the songs, you know, one, one, one-time wonders, you know? [laughs] Not the ones that-

... hit it one time, but are able to consistently hit it and, uh, be able to sustain and grow, are those leaders that have values that they live by.

So to where they're not just doing the, the thing, and they have understood that they cannot be there 100% of the time, but have to be one-

So I would say the, the leaders that understand that, that are able to diagnose, and that's where the heart framework comes in.

Um, because it's the heart framework is the values, right? Um, we have, I have five values there: you know, hope, uh, empowerment, accountability, results, and trust.

And those values, uh, those are that I have observed not only in top-performing leaders, but consistent-performing leaders.

Again, what are the right, what are the, what is the right time for me in doing what I need to do? So when I do executive coaching with my leaders, it's really that alignment.

... what was the one thing, because it's not just like, okay, I'm gonna grow in all five things all the time.

And if you know that even from Lean Six Sigma, it's not about what more, what other process we need to develop, but there's also the overprocessing, right? The waste of overprocessing.

What things do we need to get rid of? Because really we wanna be lean, so it's not like, what else do I need to develop? But what things we also we gotta get rid of.

So those leaders that are able to be to, to be true, to be able to be committed, and really live by those values and consistently align to the values, are the ones that, um, not only are sustainable, but they're enjoying their lives.
