Young ParkHosttalking about choices and preferences.
And we talked about really helping our kids understand that we are the authority to point them to God as authority.
And I was kind of grappling with that.
I was like, oh, yeah, education and teaching is all about choices and helping kids feel like a positive sense of control.
So I was talking to Alan about it.
And we realized there's really a distinct difference between the home realm and the school realm.
And I can really see that as a teacher.
I'm not their parent.
So that's why in a school kind of... setting it is about them kind of yeah like respecting each other and community making good decisions but like at home it makes sense for me to say there is no choice here right now because I am helping Natalie and Lucas like understand what that relationship with God would look like so that just really cleared things up for me because I was like ah like I thought that you know like in general that you would and I think a lot of times it does make sense to cross over things that work well in the child psychology and education moments you work while parenting but that was a really helpful distinction for me that like my calling as a parent is quite different than a calling as a teacher.
Yeah

and I think that's actually a thought that I had after because I was kind of reviewing some different things at home mentally and And actually one of the things that I thought of is, you know, one of the differences I think in the way we view our parenting is, someone said this once, he said, you're not parenting children, you're parenting adults.

And so the idea is that we're looking at our kids and saying, what should they be as an adult who loves and follows God? And the whole thing about the choices and things plays into that.

I think there is, so I think the education realm is different because you don't have the same responsibilities.

I think there is, the attachment that is there, though, is kids who learn to honor and obey in the home become, they honor their teachers as authorities.

And again, it doesn't mean that they don't have choices there, but you definitely see the ways in which they interact with the adults around them in a very different way.

That they're not always questioning, they're not always, and the questioning isn't, again, when they're a little older, the questioning isn't bad.
