What if going back to school didn’t have to feel so overwhelming? A new school year can be exciting, but getting back into a routine, staying organized, and balancing everything you have going on can…
The first thing I wanted to talk about, and the only thing I was doing an okay job of, is my sleep schedule.
I know a lot of people that will literally go to bed at 4:00 in the morning and wake up at 12:00 PM.
I do go to bed like later and wake up a little bit later in the summer, but it's nothing that crazy.
Like, I'll go to bed at around 11 or like 11:30 and wake up at maybe 9:30 or 10:00.
For school, I think I have to wake up at like 7:00 in the morning Monday through Thursday, and then at like 6:00 on Fridays 'cause I have practice in the mornings on Fridays.
Um, but I think if I go to bed at like 10:00 or 10:30 at night, I'll be fine.
I've been kind of close to that these days-ish.
Not really.
Um, fixing my sleep schedule has always been a major problem every single year when school is about to start again, especially this year considering the insane jet lag.
It's a 10 and a half time difference actually, 10 and a half hours that I had to get used to in about two days.
But I mean, it wasn't that bad.
I kind of got used to it in like two days, um, and I was like fully recovered in like a week, so it wasn't too bad.
The real key to fixing your sleep schedule fairly quickly is consistency.
You need to go to bed and wake up at around the same time each day for your body to actually get used to it.
You can't just be going to bed at 10:00 and expect to wake up at 6:00 one day only to sleep at 4:00 AM and wake up at 12:00 PM the next day.
That's not gonna work.
That really, really screws up your body clock.
Consistency is really the key to developing any habit.
You just wanna stick with it.
Making gradual adjustments to your sleep schedule is also really important if you wanna be able to wake up earlier and go to bed earlier.
You can't just expect to be magically going from going to bed at 2:00 in the morning and waking up at 10:00 to sleeping at 10:00 at night and then waking up at 7:00 in the morning.
Your body just can't make the switch that quickly.
Change takes time.
So yeah, maybe you have a few weeks until school starts.
One week, try waking up 15 minutes to an hour earlier than you normally would, and then wake up and go to sleep at whatever times that would be.
