But at the end of the day, what does your average, what I would consider not great commodity broker do? When they take a year, they just give it back.
When you think about...
One of the things that I think about sometimes is like, what are you optimizing for? Like, what is the metric that you care about? Like, specifically, is it margin dollars? Or is it like margin percent? And how do you sort of think about those things? Because one of the things I often think about is like...
you know, like Walmart's like core insight was that a lot of retailers would optimize for like margin percentage on the products that they would sell.
But their insight was like, well, actually my fixed cost is the real estate footprint.
And so I'm going to optimize for like margin dollars per square foot of retail footprint and then they're you know actually their margins end up looking really really good and they're like more profitable in some ways overall and i'm curious like how you sort of think about that because there's there's depth especially when you're talking about these like enterprise shippers and like finding that cost curve you sort of how do you think about the sort of balance between those two metrics um and what you're like models are kind of solving for

But I think like when you sit down and you build your plan, my goal, this will probably get snipped on the internet, but like I love triangles, right? So like there's three parts of a brokerage, right? Like there's sales, there's ops, and I believe that there's pricing.

And I think the ones that think of it as just sales and ops haven't evolved to thinking about pricing as a core function yet.
