Certain foods produce similar pain fighting effects as Tylenol and ibuprofen. Dr. Michael Greger joins Chuck Carroll for an early look at his forthcoming book…
Chuck CarrollHostPain is such a problem that at its peak, doctors were prescribing— 250 million opioid prescriptions every year in the United States at a time when the entire adult population was 240 million.
Contributing to the opioid crisis, which has killed hundreds of thousands of people.
It is an example of good intentions gone bad, drug companies gone rogue, and government regulators gone to sleep, basically.
But what I learned, I mean, so that's kind of when people think of like, you know, the problems with pain, they think of the opioid crisis.
What I discovered writing, How Not to Hurt, is that actually is not the rotten apple.
That these same kind of dynamics are seen throughout the entire field of pain medicine.
I mean, after writing all these books, after learning this, I mean, I am not easily disturbed by medical misadventures.
I was shocked at, I mean, so things that proven worse than useless acknowledged proven worse than useless taking decades.
In fact, many continuing to this very day, harming patients by the millions over and over and over again.
I, and so I was, in fact, when I started writing this book, I was afraid, oh my God, this is going to be the most Debbie Downer book.
